Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is one of the oldest and enduring of therapies. it has been practiced by many cultures around the world for thousands of years. Today, there are several styles of massage that have become very popular. Some, such as Remedial massage are based on physiology and biomechanics and are utilised by sports people to help them recover from injury or heavy training, and by workers who suffer from chronic strains and sprains. Others such as Swedish massage and shiatsu are used more for circulation and muscle relaxation; while others such as aromatherapy massage, lymphatic drainage and hot stone massage are beneficial for relaxation, systemic stress and illness.
Who Can Benefit?
Busy people living a stressful modern lifestyle are discovering that massage can help alleviate the symptoms of stress and anxiety; athletes find that massage enhances their performance and relieves the aches and pains of injuries. Massage can also be utilised in children suffering from growing pains, as well as pregnant women who may find that they are struggling with changes in posture and weight bearing in their final trimester. Massage also works well when combined with other therapies such as Chiropractic and Naturopathy, where the added benefit of improved circulation and flexibility can aid in maintaining and enhancing the results of those therapies.
